How can I sell Deviant Dollar Store a Step ticket?
Why are you a deviant? What’s with this “deviant” stuff? Who are you anyway?!
Q: What’s a T$? What’s a W$?
A: On PokerStars if you play a satellite and win a seat to a bigger tournament, you can go to that tournament lobby and the button that normally says “Register” will now say “Unregister”.
If you click the “Unregister” button, PokerStars will cancel your tournament registration and put T$ or W$ into your account, depending on what type of tournament it is.
If you then click the “Cashier” button in the main lobby, it will display how many T$ and W$ you have (T$ are displayed right above the “Buy Chips” button and W$ are displayed right above the “Cash Out” button.)
You can keep these T$ and W$ to use for buying into tournaments, or you can sell them to me for US dollars.
Q: What’s the difference between T$ and W$?
A: T$ can be used to buy into any PokerStars tournament. Any! That includes sit-and-gos, scheduled multi-table tournaments, satellites, WSOP qualifiers, etc. If it’s a “cash” tournament on PokerStars, you can use either cash or T$ to register for it. (The exceptions are play money and Frequent Player Point (FPP) tournaments, which can only be “paid” for with PokerStars play money or FPPs.)
W$ act almost like T$, but they are only usable for certain special tournaments and their satellites. Examples of W$ events include:
- WSOP: World Series of Poker
- WCOOP: World Championship of Online Poker
- PCA: PokerStars Caribbean Adventure
- EPT: European Poker Tour
- LAPT: Latin American Poker Tour
- APPT: Asia-Pacific Poker Tour
- ANZPT: Australia-New Zealand Poker Tour
- RPT: Russian Poker Tour
- MPT: Mongolian Poker Tour (OK, I just made that one up, but give them time!)
Q: Why are T$ and W$ worth less than cash?
A: Cash (or “real money” as PokerStars refers to it) is the most versatile type of money you can have on PokerStars. You can use cash to buy into any type of tournament, but you can also do three things with cash that you cannot do with T$ and W$: play cash games, cash out, and transfer cash to another account. Because of this, T$ and W$ are slightly less valuable than cash and therefore sell at a discount.
Q: Why are W$ worth less than T$?
A: You can use T$ for anything you would use W$ for, but the reverse is not true. For example, W$ cannot be used to register for the Sunday Million tournament; only T$ or cash can be used for that. Therefore, T$ are worth a little more than W$ because they are more versatile.
Q: Why would I want to sell my T$ and W$?
A: If you want to play cash games, cash out some/all of your account balance, or transfer cash to a friend or family member, you can’t do that with T$ and W$. Selling your T$ and W$ to Deviant Dollar Store gives you “real money” you can use for this purpose on PokerStars.
Q: Why would I want to buy T$ and W$?
A: Because T$ and W$ are worth less than cash, you can save money by buying them at a discount and then using them to register for your tournament. For example, if you could buy W$800 for $784, you could use those W$ to register for an $800 EPT satellite on PokerStars and save $16 compared to registering with cash. Cool, huh?
At the present time, I do not sell T$ and W$ on DeviantDollarStore.com. If you are interested in buying W$ from me, please fill out the Contact form and let me know your PokerStars screen name, your email address, how many W$ you want to buy, and how soon you need them. I will email you back as soon as possible, normally within 12 hours or less. (At the present time I am not selling T$, only W$.)
Q: How do I know I can trust Deviant Dollar Store?
A: First of all, when you trade with Deviant Dollar Store, you will actually be completing the trade on PokerStars itself. This is the only way T$ and W$ can change hands. You cannot transfer T$ and W$ from one person (or business) to another; you can only trade them using the trade feature on PokerStars. So there is no way you can be cheated when you buy or sell T$ or W$. What actually happens is that the buyer and seller must both enter the terms of the trade into Stars. Only when both parties have entered the exact same terms will Stars complete the trade. If one party enters the terms and the other party doesn’t do so for 24 hours, the trade expires. So it doesn’t matter who enters the transaction first. Stars will hold the first request for 24 hours to see if the other party to the sale/purchase enters the same trade data. No one has to send money or T$/W$ first and hope that the other party completes the trade. There is no way you can be cheated doing this.
Beyond that, those who know me know I’m a straight-up kind of guy. I have been playing on PokerStars every day for over two years. I’m one of the most active satellite players on the site. I’ve completed thousands of trades with your fellow PokerStars players and have many hundreds of satisfied customers. Word of mouth and referrals are my best form of advertising, and only by treating my customers right have I been able to become successful at this.
Q: How do I know if I have any T$ or W$?
A: Open your Cashier window and it will show your balances. If you have any T$, the balance appears in the lower left portion of the window, just above the “Buy Chips” button. If you have any W$, the balance appears just above the “Cash Out” button. If you don’t see any T$ or W$ listed, you don’t have any.
Q: I’m confused. I won a satellite seat but I don’t see any T$ or W$ listed on my Cashier page.
A: The most likely problem is that you didn’t unregister yet from the tournament you qualified for. In order to do that and collect your T$ or W$, close your Cashier window. Now go to the main lobby and on the “Requests” menu, select “Registered in Tournaments.” If you are registered in that upcoming tournament, highlight that tournament from the list, click the “Go There” button, and when the tournament lobby opens, click the “Unregister” button.
Now the Cashier page will show your W$ or T$. But note: if you didn’t close the Cashier window before you unregistered, it won’t display your updated amounts. Simply close it, then reopen it and you should see your W$ or T$ now.
Q: How can I sell Deviant Dollar Store a Step ticket?
A: Sorry, Step tickets cannot be sold or transferred.
Q: I just won a $25,000 tournament package to the Mongolian Poker Tour “Gobi Desert Classic”! But I would rather have the money than go to….where is Mongolia, anyway? How much will you pay me for my tournament package?
A: Sorry, tournament packages are not transferable. If you win a qualifier to a live event, that prize package typically consists of your tournament entry fee, your hotel bill, and some spending cash for transportation and meals. PokerStars normally deposits the spending cash in your account immediately upon completion of the qualifier, registers you for the event, and contacts you about your hotel reservation. You can obviously do whatever you wish with the spending cash, but generally you have to “use it or lose it” when it comes to the hotel and tournament entry. I am aware of some players who contacted PokerStars and were able to get their tournament “postponed,” in other words, PokerStars withdrew their tournament entry and hotel reservation, and allowed them to choose a similar future event to travel to and play. If this is something you want to do, I advise you to immediately email PokerStars support and ask if they will allow you to do this. But remember: they are under no obligation to do so! They warn you when you play these qualifiers that if you qualify, you must play the event and cannot cash it out. So the best advice is to carefully read the PokerStars web pages on the events you want to qualify for, and pay close attention to the rules and FAQs.
The good news is for players who qualify more than once for the same event. When this happens, PokerStars gives you the spending cash just as they did for your first qualification, but instead of your tournament entry fee and hotel cost, they credit your account with a comparable amount of W$. These can be used for other W$ tournament registrations, or sold just like any other W$!
Q: Why are you a deviant? What’s with this “deviant” stuff? Who are you anyway?!
A: My screen name on PokerStars is StndrDeviant. Stars names can only be 12-characters long; otherwise my name would be StandardDeviant. It’s just a take-off of the statistical term “standard deviation.” (Hey, I had to name myself something!) And I’ve always felt a little “different,” so I don’t mind poking a little fun at myself and calling myself a deviant! (But no, I’m not a pervert or registered sex offender or anything like that. It’s just a fun name. Nothing more. Nothing less.)
When I decided to create this web site, I had already been trading W$ and T$ at the PokerStars tables for more than a year. The other players knew me as StndrDeviant, so Deviant Dollar Store seemed like a good name for this site.
So now you know!
Q: How can I contact you?
A: A few ways:
- Website Contact form
- Instant message StndrDeviant on AIM
- Instant message StndrDeviant on Yahoo! Messenger
I usually check my instant messages and email very frequently between 11:00 a.m. ET and 02:00 a.m. ET. To find me at the tables, use the PokerStars “Find a Player…” feature on the Requests menu in the main lobby.
If you email me, please tell me 3 things:
- Your PokerStars screen name
- Whether you want to sell T$ or W$
- How many you want to sell
I will respond with a quote and instructions as quickly as possible, often within minutes.
